Jet lag

Vietnam is 1 hour behind China. For example, when the current time in Beijing is 09:00, the time in Vietnam is 08:00.

Currency exchange

The official currency in Vietnam is the Vietnamese Dong. Only a few banks in China can exchange it. You can use a UnionPay debit card to withdraw cash from ATMs at Vietnamese airports or locally, but there will be a service fee. You can also exchange Chinese RMB or US dollars at Vietnamese airports. Foreign currency exchange services are available at the front desks of local hotels in Vietnam and at local banks. It is recommended to exchange US dollars in China and then exchange them for Vietnamese Dong at currency exchange points in Vietnam for a better exchange rate. Note: It is recommended to spend all Vietnamese Dong before leaving Vietnam, as banks in China do not accept Vietnamese Dong.

The power supply voltage in Vietnam is 220V 50Hz, and the sockets are the European standard two-pin round sockets, some of which are the same as the two-pin sockets in China. If you need to use a three-pin socket, you will need an adapter. We have provided each member of the travel group with a converter plug. Please remember to bring your own power cord and mobile devices.

Tipping culture

Vietnam is a tipping country. If you are satisfied with the service, you can give a tip of 1 USD or 10,000 Vietnamese Dong. However, it is also common to encounter situations where tips are mandatory. Note: When quoting prices, locals usually omit the last three zeros. For example, 100,000 may be referred to as 'one hundred', and 60,000 may be referred to as 'sixty'.

Consumer shopping attention

1. Tourists should be cautious when making purchases. Please carefully examine the items, and do not bargain if you have no intention of buying to avoid disputes. 2. When purchasing small items, avoid using large amounts of cash. When receiving change, please check the authenticity of the banknotes in person. 3. If you need to mail large items back to your home country, you will be responsible for the customs clearance fees, import taxes, and insurance fees incurred at the customs office. Please consider this carefully. 4. After making a purchase, be sure to request relevant receipts.
